How much does the game cost?
The standard price is £4.99, paid once after your free trial. An active discount event can reduce that price; the current offer is shown on this page and at checkout. One purchase covers the web, mobile browser and itch.io PC app on the same account. There is no subscription or automatic charge. Optional cosmetics and supporter memberships are sold separately.
How long is the free trial?
New players get 30 minutes of active play to use within 7 days. The seven-day window starts when you first enter the game. The trial ends after 30 active minutes or 7 days, whichever comes first. You can spread your play across several visits. Background time does not count, and the clock pauses after 3 minutes without input.
What happens when my trial ends?
You need to purchase full game access to keep playing. Your account and progress stay saved, so you can pick up where you left off when you unlock the game. You will never be charged automatically.
Do existing players or Steam owners need to pay again?
Players whose accounts were created before paid access launched keep their existing access. Verified Steam owners and previous paid itch.io owners can restore access on the same Own the Map account without buying again. A free itch.io download alone is not a purchase.
Can I play on my phone?
Am I buying real buildings?
No. The map uses real places, but all property ownership, cash and earnings are fictional game mechanics. They give you no real-world ownership, access or financial interest.
Do I have to stay online?
No. Your properties can earn game income while you’re away, up to the game’s 24-hour offline limit. Return to collect, maintain your holdings and plan your next move.
What does active playtest mean?
You’re playing a game that is still growing. Features, balance and rewards can change, bugs may occur, and progress may sometimes be adjusted or reset during major testing. Your feedback helps shape what comes next.
